Our belief

Nova is joy you can wear— sequins cut for real bodies, sewn by hand, made to move. We believe getting dressed up is a love language, and every shimmer should feel like yours.

Our Founder

I've always believed that what we wear can change how we feel. The moment I pull on sequins, something shifts, and NOVA exists so more people can feel that shift too.

Having spent most of my life in a plus size body, it matters deeply to me that NOVA celebrates every body. Confidence was never meant to belong to one size, one age or one shape. Every body deserves the joy and transformation that comes from putting on sequins.

Every NOVA piece is a small work of art. Thousands of sequins, hand stitched one by one by a team of skilled women in Bali, slow and considered in a world that rarely is.

I didn't want to make disposable outfits worn once and forgotten. I wanted pieces that become favourites, made in small batches from organic cotton, by artisans whose craft is respected and fairly paid.

I hope that every time you pull on NOVA, you feel your own moment of transformation, the very energy that started all of this.

The Craft, handmade in Bali

I design every Nova piece in Aotearoa New Zealand, and it's handmade in Bali in collaboration with Aliyya and her team, a group of women entrepreneurs who own and run their own factory. I visit them regularly. It's another team of women, working with Aliyya, who hand stitch every single sequin onto each piece, one at a time, thousands of them per garment. These artisans set their own prices, and I pay what they ask, no bargaining.

Sustainability focus runs through everything too. I use organic and natural fabrics, and we work in small batches rather than mass production. I'm currently developing samples using PET sequins, a more sustainable alternative to the PVC most sequins are made from. Every piece is made for longevity, designed to be worn again and again, not a one-off festival buy that gets thrown away after a night.

OUR STUDIO

Where Every Collection Begins

My studio work starts with a sketch, then a local pattern developer helps bring it to life. From there it goes to my team in Bali, who build the first samples. We go back and forth, refining daily, checking every detail together, until we're both happy with the fit and shape. Only then does that first sample get covered in sequins, that is where the magic happens!.
