Nova was born from a moment of transformation. At a festival, I wore sequins and felt unstoppable—confident, radiant, and unapologetically myself. Strangers stopped me to say, “You’re the best dressed person here!” and I realised just how powerful clothing can be. I wanted to share that feeling, because everyone deserves to shine.

That spark turned into a plan during a trip to Bali with my sister. Among the roadside stalls of Canggu, one stood out—bursting with sequined leotards and crop tops unlike anything we’d ever seen. We couldn’t resist. I left with a lime-green leopard-print leotard covered in electric-blue sequins, and my sister with a hot pink sequined crop top featuring a cat’s face. Later, sitting poolside with cosmo’s in hand, I decided: this was it. I would create a line of statement sequin clothing, which I couldn’t find elsewhere, designed to empower and ensure the wearer is unforgettable.

Today, Nova is designed in Aotearoa New Zealand, and brought to life in Bali, in collaboration with an incredible group of women entrepreneurs who own and operate their own factory. Our pieces are made from 100% organic cotton, with ethical production at the heart — every single sequin is hand-stitched by skilled women who set their own prices — no bargaining. Supporting their talent and independence is at the heart of Nova’s values.

Sustainability sits at the core of what we do. We prioritise natural fabrics, recycle wherever possible, and produce in small batch runs to reduce waste. These garments are not cheap, mass-produced fashion — they are crafted to be loved, worn, and re-worn - sharing the joy over and over again.
